The laboratory was set up in 1968 and started to produce diliuted-fresh semen. The experimental studies on semen freezing techniques had been continued between 1973-1975. Producing frozen semen in liquid nitrogen was started in 1975. Now, The laboratory has been updated to the latest technology.
	Frozen semen is produced from Holstein, Brown-Swiss, Simmental, Sharole, Brangus and Montbeliarde breeds to meet demands of various regions in Turkey and frozen semen from Jersey, Piemontese and Limousine breeds are present in stocks for meeting demans in the case. The bulls are kept in 2 barns with 50 heads capacity.
The main functions of the laboratory are to produce frozen semen and to carry on researches on AI techniques. As being the most efficient frozen semen distributor laboratory in Turkey, the yearly frozen semen production capacity is 2 million doses and regularly 700.000 doses frozen semen were delivered to nearly 70 provinces in Turkey.
